From 7 April 2026 MEWPs and off-road orchard platforms are included in Annex VII of Italian Legislative Decree 81/2008
Law no. 34/2026 (the so-called “PMI” law for small and medium enterprises), in force since 7 April 2026, has added “mobile elevating work platforms and off-road orchard platforms” to Annex VII of Legislative Decree 81/2008, the list of work equipment subject to mandatory periodic inspections. These items are now subject to a three-year periodic inspection.
Inclusion in Annex VII means that the employer must submit the equipment to the statutory inspections under art. 71(11) of Legislative Decree 81/2008, in order to ascertain its state of preservation and efficiency for safety purposes.
The change concerns all companies using mobile elevating work platforms and off-road orchard platforms, particularly in agriculture, logistics, maintenance and construction. For many businesses — especially agricultural ones — this is a new obligation to be planned for in good time.
Stefano Luise Engineering S.r.l. supports companies with the new obligation: census of the equipment concerned, scheduling of deadlines, technical assistance during inspections, supplementary investigations and restoration of compliance, in continuity with the lifting equipment inspection activity already carried out by the firm.
